Exactly how much wear are we talking here, if we don't follow this ultra-cautious warm up procedure?

Most of my drives (~99%) are less than 15 miles, so this makes it sound like I must never punch the throttle.
My subjective opinion re: someone who does alot of street driving ................. 50 to 75 thousand miles.

Ever since Kevin taught me the ways of good behaviour with turbos I've been really good about cool down and starts.... I was pretty good before but now I make darn sure I cool down and warm up properly... The joys of a turbo timer:P

collin996tt is infamous around these parts
can the turbo timer shuts off fuel if u stomp on it before it's time after cold start?

i always roll my car outside, let it sit in the warm sun for couple hours before i start it...

oh, my garage is centrally heated so ambient temp is always perfect...

never, never let your car feel cold...

Sooo, how can you tell if the oil has warmed to operating temp., other than driving 15 or more miles? Does anyone know at what temp. the oil level guage starts working? It's amazing to me that Porsche didn't put an oil temp. guage in these cars.

It depends on ambient temperature, and what the rpm and load is on the engine...nothing scientific but just a gouge. Just like how long do you drive the car after having previously warmed it up by driving someplace, letting it sit awhile, and then driving it again.

Here's my gouge - do an initial idle warm up to 100-130 on the water temperature gauge, keep the rpm's under 3000 and no boost until the water temperature is at least 180...and then after the oil pressure reads <2 at idle, drive a few more miles and you're probably in the ballpark.
