Hello all,

I've had my turbo for about 3 months and have become increasingly concerned by the noise my gearbox / diff is making in 3rd gear over-run (off the power). I've read these cars AWD system can be noisy but this seems excessive. Anyone else here experienced 'diff whine' in 3rd over-run like this? . Other than that g/box seems good. its 2001 manual with 60,000K's

Where abouts are you located?

 

contact Gbox, or guards transmission and see if they can help ya out they probably see and hear more about these transmissions then anyone as they specialize in them.

 

If it is making noise on decel there is something wrong.Most likely a backlash issue.Get it checked!

I'll start with the basics....oil change, 2nd opinion etc however it doesn’t sound like a good news noise. Will post findings given it seems to be unique to my car!
