Looking for shop in Oakland - Bauer or Eason? Any recommendations please?
I recently moved to the bay area (living in Piedmont, near Oakland) and I am looking for a reliable shop to do regular maintenance on my 996TT. I am not looking for any major mods at this point; just a shop that gets the job done the first time, is honest, has free loaners, and decent prices. Looking on Yelp I found Bauer and Eason. I know there are some amazing shops in SF (eg Sharkwerks) but not ready to do the extra driving for basic maintenance only.
thanks for any suggestions!

Sharkwerks is a performance shop and they do not do maintenance stuff. Go to The Rennshop in Santa Clara, Marvin is a good guy and does a very good job.
btw, I'm at Sharkwerks right now and they are changing the sparkplugs, coil packs, and the lightweight pulley on my car.

Both are excellent shops for basic maintenance or mods. Sharkwerks was not open when I lived in the Bay Area but I've only heard good things about them. I had S-Car-Go do all the mods on my 993. If you work in San Francisco, Autosporthaus is very good and did all the basic maintenance on my air cooled 911s. You can take the cable car to work after you drop you car off.

Shop in Oakland
One of Bauer's most experienced main mechanics recently left Bauer's and is now at All Mercedes, an indy shop that also does work on BMW's. The shop is expanding to handle Porsche work also under the name of Zentrum http://www.allmab.com/. I also live in Piedmont and have my 996tt serviced there along with our MBZ's and the shop does good service work. Close to West Oakland Bart.
