I'm not deep enough into the subject, but from what I understand they should have economical issues.
They're trying to find private investors to save the Ring.

Wow, I can't see people allowing the track to be closed without putting up a fight. I hate to think what would happen to Adenau and other areas surrounding the track if it were to close. I visited and drove the ring for the first time this year and it was an incredible experience.

As far as I know Ring is currently 400m€ in debt and in this situation "putting up a fight" doesn't really help.
And the fact that they lied about number of spectators in order to gain investment for other surrounding objects won't help with getting new ones.
Don't get me wrong. I plan to visit Ring in the spring and would hate to see it go under but we need a miracle.

Wow. This is terrible to hear. An enormous gentlemens club in the center of the nordschleife night turn things in the right direction.

Wow I guess I need to push up my trip there. If I don't drive it in my lifetime I'll have missed a major life goal. I plan to have Sabine drive me once and do it myself a few (hundred) times.

Just raise the toll to complete a lap. User fees work if the user enjoys immediate benefit. My only other observation is why does a track that survived WW2 and the cold war for
over half a century and worked just fine is now broke, busted and going out of business.

Well they built restaurants, shopping mall, hotel and roller coaster. Those things cost some real money operating even if you ignore huge sums needed to build them. Bad business decisions can turn any profitable business into disaster.

+1 what dwdwdwwd said, too much expenses.
But +1 to what Duane said, I think the same.....they could raise the toll and litterally NOONE would complain about it!!!
Considering that we pay 100€ and more for 30 miutes sessions in "normal" tracks, why in hell should the Ring be so cheap! You can have 8(which is nearly 1,5 hours for an amateur I guess) rounds for 145€.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a problem for the existing management and investors, but not the future of the track nor anyone who wishes to drive on it? It sounds to me like the track will go bankrupt, equity holders will lose all of their money, and then the debt holders will take ownership of (and then sell) the track. The per lap fee may even go down if the new owners don't have such a huge mortgage expense over their heads. It's unlikely that the land is worth more to be sold to build something new, than it is as an already built, and world renown, race track. Maybe things are different in Europe, but that's what I'd expect over here. Doesn't seem like an issue for me. The existing managers may get fired, but I'd be pretty surprised if the new owners didn't hire Sabine.

As per the 'Save the Ring' facebook page, RSR cars are no longer allowed on the ring for some reason. I don't know details because the article that accompanies the update is in German.
