I am so Pissed!!!!!!
I am so Pissed!!!!!!
Alright guys I have been bothering you all and clogging up the forum about PPI ref. in Canton Ohio for a car I found in that area. Cobalt BLue with mods and the car doesn't belong to a board member. The car was set for a PPI for today, I have spoken to seller 10 times on the phone and emailed him even more, the whole time asking if I can send a deposit, he tells me to wait until after the ppi. SO I send him an email last night just to clarify things and to see if he spoke to his bank about releasing the title. I get an email from him this am, " I think the car is sold, so guy called me yesterday and is wiring me the $ and doesn't want a PPI just waiting for wire to clear I will keep you posted". I was shocked and I am not even going to respond to his email. Obviously there is a reason these things happen, I guess the Big Guy upstairs is watching out for me. So my search continues, thanks again for all of the help. If you know of a nice vehicle, the kind that every other potential buyer is looking for let me know FIRST, just kidding.
Lots of us have been through similar situations with sellers who are trying to get rid of their problems as quickly as possible. As my wife and CEO of the household told me, everything happens for a reason, there will be others.
frustrating yes, but not the end of the world. Porsche produced thousands of 996 Turbos, so just keep looking, the right one will come along. Mind you, all of my Pcars came from out of state (Florida, Texas and Arizona) and sometimes long distance transactions can be a pain. If the seller is up front with you, is easy to work with and communicates often, chances are they car is what they claim. Anything short of this and they are more than likely hiding something.
I looked for three years for my current turbo (two years casually, last year seriously), a few nice ones got away because I was too slow to act, but another one would always pop up shortly thereafter.
Good luck with the search.

I myself lost sleep over the first turbo that slipped through my fingers. Like others have said there are plenty of Turbos out there keep looking. Never get to attached to the cars your looking at and keep the emotion out of the equation.... unless of course the car is WHITE!!
When i started looking for my TT I got shafted two times and it worked out best in the end. I also recently got screwed on a set of gt3 calipers(had a deposit) and now on a set of harnesses. There is many asshol*es out there and you just have to learn to vent and move on.
He should have been upfront with you that there was someone else looking at it, although I'm never sure I believe them when they tell me that. That said though, if I have something for sale it remains for sale until I have a deposit or the full payment in hand.

Just Buy Tim's car. It might be more money but it's perfect.
Look at the condition and documentation of it, that says a ton IMO
or don't so I can buy it later.

A similar thing happened to me. I found a Maserati that looked great and the price was perfect. It slipped through my fingers and I was miffed, but that's what allowed me to get the 996 TT that I now drive. I'm so happy I missed the first deal.
You are in familiar territory. I also had the same thing happen to me when I was looking for my 996tt and with just about every other car I've shopped for. Just be patient, there are plenty more out there. Better to take your time and ensure you get a good one. A better one awaits you. Good luck! There are always lots for sale out here in CA. Come out here and shop and escape the snow
Its too bad he would not keep you more in the loop. Especially since you paid up front for an inspection on the car. I am sure that the "someone is watching over you thing" is not much consolation, but sometimes deals don't happen for a reason. Good luck with the search, the car is fantastic.
Don't worry.. Something just as good or better will come along. It took me 9 months of searching.. I flew all over the Country looking at GT2's.. Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, Miami.. I had a beautiful Car in Seattle get sold right out from under me and was SOOOOOOO pissed off...
However, about three weeks later, my present Car came up for sale and I negotiated a great price on it and I truly think I got the best one out there... So.. keep looking and you will find something brilliant for your needs.
Cheers...

I wanted to back out of the deal to sell my 996TT last summer so bad, but I didn't want to be "that guy" who screwed the buyer. I had seller's remorse before we even completed the transaction or any money had changed hands, but I knew how happy the buyer was going to be and I just couldn't bring myself to cancel the deal.
The dude should have been honest with you. If he's shady on the sale, think of all the other things he's probably shady about too.

took me 6 months to find my 01 that was 6 or 8 years ago... wanted white and low miles, all worked out perfect have modded the hell out of it and it's great fun... hang in there and once you have it the wait will be worth while
