What specialty tools have you made or purchased at Habor Freight.
What are they used for and how much did you pay compared to the cost of a brand name tool.

I have a Harbor Freight double piston racing jack. Have had the single piston ones, but they usually fail after a few years. Trying this one, and I like it so far. Little tools you use once in a while, like a set of picks for removing O-rings.
Stay away from their torque wrenches. Their flair wrenches are junk.

I've got 1 big 3pc Craftsman and a small 2pc Craftsman roll away tool chest. I have Snap On, Matco, Craftsman, Stanley, Husky, Blue Point, SK, and other expensive tools in them. Yet you don't always need it to cost a lot to work, especially if you only need it every once in a great while. So back to the thread that I hope gives information on specialty tools for a great price that work.

I probably own 1/2 of Harbor Freight
lolTheir stuff is so cheap that even if you only use it once it's still worth it.
Some of my favorites:

This one is a must for changing control arms on the 996. You just have to grind/file the opening a bit.

I got many more.

I think ,,,You kinda get what you paid for in the tool area,,,But sometimes you do not need the best quality tool/industrial type, to do a once in awhile job. Some times a cheap tool or an expensive tool might be made a bit different to make or help the job be easier. The more you wrench on things, you will be able to tell what and how to use a tool >>>>>Then you will know what to pick ,regardless of price.Just because a person has costly tools doesnt mean he know how to use them fully....Kinda like just because a person has a Turbo doesnt mean he knows how to drive it fully.....lol......
I'm not sure why people have to add personal opinions and remarks that have nothing to do w/ the information of the thread?
The ability to wrench, drive, or what anyone thinks about tools the cost have nothing to do w/ information about enexpensive tools that work.

HF is a convinience store for tools. They have pretty much everything and 50-80% of. Chicago brand is some sort of dewalt sister company. I have used their misc stuff for last 2 years and stuff works pretty well for the money. I even conduced a test between their 1/2 HD drill (55 dollars with warranty) vs dewalt HD drill (250 with warranty) They were throw into the field to use during mixing of epoxy. Needless to say the Dewalt stopped working after 5 months, the HF chicago drill lasted1.5 years. I have one of their new jacks and so far so good, lite, quick pumps, decent design, nice and low. But I wouldnt touch their ratchets and etc
Craig you can also see if their is a sears warehouse by you, they do stuff on crazy sales like 40-60% off. I got a snap on 200 piece set for 60 bucks.

CONGRATS on the snap-on find!
Ill check for the sears warehouse, the 2 sears stores have sales all the time but most I've already got or it doesn't apply.
I agree, most all HF ratchet stuff sux. But things like a ball joint tool has got some good reviews.
