The guy from Roush Racing said the GT weighed 3200 lbs. Still kind of a lot for a racecar like that, I think they should have targeted 2900-3000.

hmmmm looking back at the pics of the Ford GT...... It does look pretty damn bad ***. Perhaps if the circumstances were right, I might reconsider my negative statements regarding purchasing one....

In regards to the GT40:

"Saw a couple at WOT in 1st gear, I have to say, it didn't sound particularly good. Didn't sound like it "should". It sounded, like, kind of, a dump truck kind of noise. You expect it to make some exotic sound, but it doesn't."

From what I understand Ford neutered the beast with a compliant exhaust per federal requirements (or some other requirement). It is said from within Ford that a "proper" exhaust will exist in the aftermarket that will bring the true sound out of the car. That eventual sound is supposed to be amazing.

ahhh... well that would be good. Hell I gotta admit I like the sound of a modded Mustang. If they can even get it to sound like that, like a big blown Mustang - that would be better than what it sounds like stock.

That's what the guy told me also (3,200 lbs), but somehow in Nov C&D it says 3,400 lbs. I'm 90% sure I remember this right, just read the magazine two days ago.

The same guy who told us the weight mentioned that the white car is Bill Ford's personal car, FWIW.

....

After a nice afternoon like that it really sux to be back in the office, at least it's Friday.

About a dozen automotive journalists tested the 500-horsepower GT this week at GingerMan Raceway in this western Michigan town on Lake Michigan. To gauge the two-seater's handling and ride, some reached speeds of 115 miles (185 kilometers) per hour on the 1.9-mile (3.05-kilometer) road course.
