RUF cars suck!

Just kidding, I knew if I put that up I would get all the RUF guys checking out this thread to bash me!!

What I really wanted to say is that I think the RUF cars really rock! If you have the 550 package you have closer to 600 hp because I ran against Sean's at the NJ/PA meet and we were neck and neck all the way up to 170 mph! I am only running 600 horses right now.

I think RUF and their customer service is outstanding based on what you folks have relayed on the list. And as far as the cost goes to convert I think it is pretty much in line. Can someone PM me with what the cost is for the 550 package including suspension and upgraded brakes, clutch and flywheel.

Thanks and congrats on some awesome cars!!

Buddy....cost of 550 hp/580tq conversion is approx €25k (includes the exhausts). Fully adjustable suspension is an approx €4k. From my perspective, worth every penny.

My last Ruf Turbo was featured in R&T and Auto motor und sport.

In R&T it won the title "best sports car in the world" scoring 100 of 100 points

I'm looking to buy a new one. Ruf now has a 590 hp version of the R Turbo, which Alois says is much quicker and faster than the 550 hp version. More money though. Does anyone know how I can get a hold of the guy who owns the Dark Blue Ruf R Turbo Sport in Malibu? I want to talk with him before throwing down $240k. My e-mail is amansur@earthlink.net

Thanks!

Austin

Will Ruf let you buy pieces or do you have to purchase the kit in its entirety? If someone had an exhaust, airfilter, and just wanted the ECU, new turbos, lowering springs, and rear spoiler, is it possible?

The Ruf conversion is a homogonized package and is only available in a kit format complete with instalation by RUF techician.

this is the only way to ensure that the end result is what the ruf company has set out to do for its clients.
the final road test has to be perfect...it is also the reason we have an almost zero warranty issue.

cheers

RUF is the best by far, I also talked to Alois on the subject of the 590 engine package. He did say it was tremendous however he felt that it was too "extreme" for normal road use. Also it is reputed to sacrifice torque for bhp, still tough decision, we chose the 550 because my mum drives it daily

all the best

550 vin car and a 590 vin car was considerable, however i dont recall the exact number, but it was a big difference and one of the factors why we didnt go for it. It is a blistering package but doenst cater for everyone like the 550

The price difference is due to the fact that Ruf puts in titanium conrods and some other internals into the motor.

I believe the price difference was somewhere around $15K or so.

Actually, that's not too bad of a difference. The Nardo engine package is sweeeeeet.

But still too conservative for my taste.
