ventus v12 vs yoko advan ad08 vs falkens 452

looking for a decent budget track tire.
hankooks or falkens seem ok. are advans worth the money?

also, can you run 245 35 18 and 295 30 18?
will245 run on stock wheels?

i have run the falken 452's

in simple there a fantastic tire, i went with 245.35.18 up front and 295.30.18

they are pretty quiet and handle really well in the wet. the rears actually have more traction than the falken 615's and there 315's

the sidewalls are nice and stiff in the 452's whereas the hancooks are all over the place - way too soft widewalls

I've been running Michelin P2's on my 18's and 19's. I'm really happy with them except the cost. I've got some Hancook's coming this week for my 18's and am interested in the results. The boys @ SHC have got some in for the 18's in the right sizes. An entire set of 4 will cost less than 2 rears in the 19 size. There's a guy in town who just bought a GT3RS sho bought a set of Hancooks cause the Michelin Cups wouldn't pass the Canadian inspection with only 4,000 miles on them. I haven't spoken with him to get his opinion but you can pm me in a week or so and I'd be happy to share my thoughts. The Victoria Porsche club meets on Sunday's @ 9 and the guy with the GT3 attends......good luck

just to add there not really track tires, but im sure you wont get them falling apart at the track with the falkens. if you want dedicated track tires i heard the nitto nt01's are the best for the money..

i saw a post showing the hancooks literally chunking after track use i.e falling apart

I think if you want to track a Hankook tire, you should look at a tire meant for this kind of mixed use (street/track), then specifically the Ventus RS3 (with RS2 being the older runner-up).

During 2010 Redline Time Attack every team running on these have annihilated the competition in "Street Class". Personally I am a big fan as I won 4 races (out of 7) on these and still own a WSIR Mod class track record, plus I like them on the street too. The Mod class competition ran R888, A048, NT01 etc, which are outspoken R-comps, still the theoretically lower classed street/track tire RS3 was obviously really competitive. During hardcore drifting (Formula D pro level) with the RS3 tire, there is also no chunking going on. So that is the Hankook tire which is suitable for fast tracking rather than the v12.

In summary: Those are all pretty decent tires you have listed, just make sure to use the right model for the right application.

thanks for the input.
but will 245 rub up front (at stock height or dropped 1.1-5in)?
also, the rs3 only come in 285 at rear. OEM is 295 on stockers.
is 285 ok for rears?

I used 245 no rub, ran very low ride-height at times, it was with the wider offset GT2 wheels, not sure if there's a big difference.
285 stretches to the 11" rim. It has a wide thread surface so in reality the difference is very small.

For 19" they have these in GT3 sizes (235 and 305).

Just FYI, Falken 452 is not DOT-approved to support our car's rear weight..

are the stock turbo twists 10 or 11inch?
OE tires are 295 in the rear.
a 11inch rim should be 305

i can either run hankook 245 front and 285 rear
or NT01 with 315 rears.

is it better to run a slightly smaller width or slightly bigger width for track?

Stock turbo rear wheels are 11". I would go 235 f/ 315 r.

Falken does not have any production tires that's DOT approved for the rear weight of our car, period.

Just installed MPS Cups and not a bad deal through TireRack. Replaced old PS2 up front and Sumi in back. Looking forward to LagunaSeca next week. Finally on new matching tires.

Let us know what you go with, when is your next track day Op?

Since when? The RT-615 has identical ratings to the PS2: 98W/1653lbs and it is DOT approved.

Another option is the Kumho Ecsta XS also has those identical ratings.

Really, none of the OP tires he is listing are "Track tires", although learning to track on street tires is IMHO very smart for your daily driving.
