Same chassis, same suspension, same tires, vehicles are almost identicle weight and size with similar distributions. Why do you find it so hard to believe? Since you never tested the VW, I'd suggest you have fallen victim to brand image marketing
LOL...If you want bling factor, go for a W12 Touareg...should be plenty fast and plenty rare, but stealthy as well. Not easy to get a hold of though.
Seriously, though. Go drive a V8 or V10 VW before you buy a pepper and decide for yourself. I have driven both extensively and prefer the VW, though both are sweet SUVs.
