Braking Noise?

Does anyone know what is causing the high pitched rubbing noise? I have Brembo RACE System brakes with relatively new Ferodo pads. When I changed the pads, I didn't change rotors because the rotors seemed like they had some good life left. During the first part of the session, there is no noise whatsoever. As the session wears on, the noise becomes quite loud. If you listen carefully, the noise occurs even when I'm off the brakes, but it's worst under heavy braking. Near the end of the session, the brakes are smoking. I've had a few people suggest that it could be tires, but that doesn't make as much sense to me. No one at the track seems to know and the guys at the brake shop think I need new rotors. Anyone with ideas?

Sounds like a warped rotor to me.

Def an odd sound for brakes to make. Def check the rotors and look for any rubbing - almost sounds like tires rubbing on plastic.

What exhaust do you have - sounds great!!!

Almost as if the calipers aren't releasing completely? Just shooting in the dark here.

Are you sure the noise is coming from your brakes? Since it is always under deceleration, I wonder if it could be a diverter valve diaphragm fluttering. Just thinking out loud.

Pad Guide

From my mechanic...

"We found a piece of the brake caliper that has been rubbing on the rotor…stainless steel pad guide not centered."

Glad you found the problem. No damage to the rotors?

Braking Noise Back

After a long hiatus from the track, I returned recently to find that my braking noise has come back. It only takes a few laps to warm up the brakes, and then the noise returns. Maybe it is the new Ferodo pads? I don't think I had the problem with the Brembo pads.
