It should give you more lateral grip and maintain the stock handling balance better.

235's seem narrow on a 3,500lb. car.

I assume it either won't fit or most wheels are only available in 8.5" widths and offsets for 235's.

Later, Steve
I run 255/35 18s in the front and 315/30 18s in the rear.

I have a set of 12" rears and 9.5" fronts coming. Gonna try 245s and 265s up front will report as soon as Forgestar gets me the damn wheels! From a pure balance perspective those fronts are probably overkill but pimp.

For the record you can (I and many others have personally) done 12" wheels with a 37 offset (stock GT2 wheels with a 7mm spacer) with 315s in the back with zero rub. Did roll fenders of course.

Does anyone know if 9x18 with +20mm up front and 12x18 with +36mm in the rear will fit without rubbing and without fender rolling? What would the recommended tire size be?

great link to help give you an idea, lowered car will/might cause fender problems however.

Rear with +36 shoudl fit with aggressive rolling and a bit of negative camber.

+20mm won't fit in front you need +46, or +47 to be on safe side, even then you can still get some rubbing if the car is lowered.

I was running 18x9 ET25 in the front with a 225 width tire with no issues and I'm lowered to GT2 height running about 2 degrees of negative camber in the front. I went to a 245 and got some rubbing but rolled the fronts with a touch of stretch and didn't have any more issues. You are fine in the back at ET36. I'm running ET33 right now with 315s and no rubbing. Had ET25 but the 315s rubbed, however, 295s were ok.
