My First Ever Track Day

I had my first ever track day at ThunderHill today. It was fun, but I actually like road course better (don't like the idea of turning round-and-round). I will sure do it again; but I'll never be a die-hard trackie.

What I like the most? My upgraded 997/350mm rotors and GT3 six-caliper brakes. I could brake so late and actually scared my instructors several times.

Yeah, Diablo region provides numbers, but GGR doesn't.

I am glad the tiptronic did well! I hope you were not running on high boost or you might need to get your tranny built soon...

This track requires only 3rd and 4th gears, and I shifted at about 5500... didn't put the rpm to the max. I could go 5th on one straight but there is really no reason to. The problem I had was (the instructor said) I have too much car for this track and it was quite difficult to control that power at the right speed. The tranny handled this course quite well.

It is because I don't get much room to work with with the Fabspeed. They kind of remind me that some women have them hanging "out". Once I get tired of them, I'll probably put the old ones back on.

It would scare me as well... I'm glad you had a good time, but keep in mind your instructor has no idea about how your car handles, or how you handle your car. I know plenty of instructors that don't let novices go over certain speeds (ask to reduce throttle input), because the variables increase exponentially, and usually novices are not familiar with how to handle a vehicle IF something goes unexpectedly wrong (as it usually does). It could be something out of your control (spill from car in front, etc...). Just sayin'... It takes a lot of courage to get in a car with a complete stranger.

I totally agree. I'm really feeling for the instructors; it is not a fun job.

It can be, I suppose. Unnerving as well.
