Incoming GT2
it is not a dog leg config, it's a 6 manual H - config. Double clutching is not required it has hardened steel synchros - crashbox with the usability of a factory box - it's louder and you can hear the gears whining it's not unbearable by any means it's actually just the right amount of noise, enough to let you know it's a beefy and unique high performance setup above and beyond what you would find on most street cars. Rev matching helps tremendously with this gearbox, moreso than any other car I've driven short of race cars on a proper race track, RPMs rise and fall very very quickly...with it downshifts become effortless and the car doesn't skip a beat
So what is the short list of what exactly has been done? Could it be duplicated and would it be worth it cash, drivability and comfort wise? Would such an upgrade be worth it in the long run if someone did a mix of street and moderate personal track time? Inquiring minds.

took the GT2 to cars & coffee on Saturday morning ... what a fun drive thru scenic twisty roads in great falls, VA! Car felt fantastic thru the tight twisties toggling between 2nd & 3rd. At the event got a nice people come over and have a look, most common comments were 1) is that a kitted turbo? 2) what's the difference from a GT3 and 3) love the color matched wheels...is that a factory option?
Hey Sunir. Im late to the party here but...
I knew you were a crackhead (in a good way) from the first time we spoke! That is awesome. You have a great team supporting your addiction there too. I really miss my car.
Enjoy it man and stay in touch!

Moderators: I've asked Chuck GT3 to move this thread back to the 996TT/GT2 forum where it had been originally...that is where this thread belongs since it started there, GT2 owners post there very often..and the GT2 is closer to the 996TT than the GT3 which is narrow body and natually aspirated with more parts different from the GT2 and the turbo. Please mods if you read this then return this thread to the 996TT/GT2 forum, thanks

I wonder how may Euro Spec GT2 cars are there here in the US with ZZZ vin codes...I was speaking with Bob Miller, Porsche expert and racer and owner of At Speed Motorsport here in MD and he was telling me not very many at all. He has 2 ZZZ cars one of which is a GT3 imported here as a very early build car.

... nothing about malfunctions or bad things with the car, just items that were options or Porsche Motorsport and added to the carDrivability wise, the car is very fun but it's involved, you really have to be on top of things, it's a race car on the street with a radio and AC, nothing else... as for comfort wise, haha what's that
... I hopped into my SL55 after a long drive in the GT2 and I felt as though I was in a Caddy and the SL55 is a very fast uber sled in it's own right (and mine is modded and making tons of power and tq), nice though cause it's got creature comforts and is the perfect mix of grand tourer for long highway trips and boulevard bruiser with a drophead coupe style for nice nights out on the town.
Holy crap just looked up replacement sets for the PCCB rotors on Suncoast's site...$8,535 for the front pair and $7,651 for the rears
... now I am understanding why this car carried a hefty price tag when it retailed new, not only the performance and limited build but the componentry used, PCCB was a new technology then, but now it's 9 years later and by now I figured the prices would have been driven down...sheesh!
Looks like when the time comes to swap I'll look for a take off set or something, there are a lot of folks who pulled their carbon rotors off new and replaced them with steel, especially a lot of track guys...
I've heard the change interval for PCCB rotors is like 100K miles or something like that...a couple of reputable shops told me that they really never need to be changed, especially on a predominantly street driven car and that the only way to know when it's time to change them is to weigh them and compare them to the weight of their original counterpart when new.

ok checked out the Potamkin car...looks great and it's another very rare ZZZ car - this car is extremenely similar to mine except it is silver and mine is seal gray, otherwise almost identical Euro Spec and options package, cf trim etc... nice looking car
