Pulled Up Next To a GT-R Today
Awesome whips, the only people who think they aren't either A) haven't driven one or B) need to justify their P-Car, diversity is great. I love the fact that with a mid pipe they can run 10s.
Agreed!
I used to really dislike the Panamera, but it has grown on me a lot.
GTR's are pretty sweet, IMO.
I have had the chance to put a GTR through its paces around Laguna Seca and I must say, it is a very impressive car. Loads of grip, ridiculous acceleration, and stupid fast gear changes, I was surprised how much I liked it. With that said, I will say by lap three, I was starting to feel more like I was along for the ride, the car was pretty well driving itself, I didn't feel like the quick laps were because of my inputs but rather a bunch of technology doing it for me. I will never claim the AWD 996TT is a nonassisted raw sports car, but by comparison, I felt like it required more talent by the pilot to go fast and stay on the black stuff.
Looks are so subjective.
I think you will always get a younger crowd, in general, attracted to the GTR with the prevalence of imports in today's market.
Us older farts will tend to lean towards the classic marques.
You can't deny the GT-R's performance, but personnally I am not a fan of the way they look. Very different syling and a big car to boot. Maybe I'll come around on it the way I'm starting to come around on the Panamera.
Why own 2 of the same cars? That would get very very boring real fast, VARIETY my man.
There are people who would say the same about a 996/997TT.
Looks are so subjective.

I think the older I get, the less important the marque is and the more important the capabilities become. That's my idea of maturing.

I like the GT-R -- but I have to admit it's more for the performance than the looks for me. All personal preference -- but there are too many sharp lines, angles and corners for my own tastes. I can also see people arguing about the electronics / latest technologies vs. a raw driving machine. Both have their supporters and again, it may be more about personal tastes. The GPS-based top speed limiter in the Japanese version I heard about is a crack up though

I guess the car does grow on some people; interesting that this board went from GT-R bashing (I wasn't one of them) to GT-R loving (in percentage of this thread). I agree look is subjective; maybe that's the reason I'm always a brunette kind of a guy.
