I'd certainly recommend it (I went with EVOMSiT). It's one of the few performance mods that I've done. Otherwise, stock is plenty for me right now and I'm spending more time and money on improving my skills at the track.

I've done ECU flashes in other cars (e.g. BMW M Roadster) with minimal improvement -- more psychological than reality. But I can definitely say the flash for the 996TTs makes a noticeable and real improvement.

Enjoy!

I've loved my flash as well. It's all I've done performance wise to my car and it was worth every penny. You get a good boost in HP and torque at all rpms. There are several reputable vendors on this board with good flashes. I have EVOMSit same as Aerodude. I haven't had the flash all that long so I haven't gone though California smog test yet, but I was guaranteed it wouldn't have a problem passing emissions. Where you from?

I have the EPL flash and it along with my used Miktek100 exhaust passed the California Dmog test with flying colors. The bang for the buck is the best out there. Try to couple with a free flowing exhaust do get the most out of her.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the club!

Flash it.. I would use some one who gives you a cable that can read and clear codes plus data log. Switzer, softronic and I think EPL might have that option too. Do it and dont look back. It changes the car night and day. On a virgin car that there is the best bang for the buck.

Yes do it get the ECU upgrade you won't be disappointed. Get a good set of Diverter valves with your flash minimum. The stock units contain a rubber diaphragm in them that over time will tear, causing the valve to not function properly with extra boost. I run Softronic in my car, right away you will notice better response, power and boost!

I'm really interested in flashing too. Does anyone have input on GIAC vs softronic vs upsolute? Car is stock now except brakes. Considering air intake (agency power?). And doing the diverter valves. Thanks!

My flash improved so much with this car even when not driving fast and hard. I went with EPL and their price, service, drivability and quality are second to none. I ordered my tune on a thursday and had the file the next day. Can't comment negatively against the others tuners out there either though.
