Oh boy. Sorry to see that. Very common. +1 its not the res. Its backflow from the slave on the trans. Best thing to do is change the slave and the master. If your pedal is stiff when the car is off do the accumilator as well.

Dont let the system run low, that will cause other problems.

Good luck

Yep lifted up the cover and sure enough it is the reservoir (same one as in J.P. Flip's photo) as expected.

Cleaned it all up under there, not really much flooding over by the looks of things. Did try to transfer the fluid to the rear reservoir, but with all my tools left at my parents since I moved the best I could come up with was using a straw!! Didn't work out, so will just have to leave it too full for now until I can get the car in to Porsche.

Good job! Your car being under warranty, they will have to replace the slave and normally they are not going to replace the accumulator. But the accumulator part# 997-314-166-00 (updated) is only about $146.00 and it is located on the slave part# 996 116 237 52. It is a good preventive maintenance to get it replaced at the same time. Picture show the slave on top and the accumulator in black.

isnt the windshield solvent fill opposite the clutch fill.
Did you ask your shop if possibly it was topped off?

Is the fluid dark greenish, or blueish? one is water soluble and the other is not. Best way to tell. Pentosin is not water soluble, and can wreak havoc on almost anything, more so rubber, and wiring sort of stuff...

It's pentosin. You have to replace the slave and should also do the accumulator. The slave is above the transmission. You'll need to pay someone to do it if you don't have access to a lift. The other option is to do the GT2 slave conversion. That is a permanent fix that many people love, but it adds stiffness to the clutch and cost 3-4x a slave replacement.

The clutch reservoir is on the side of the clutch pedal obviously since it is just over the master cylinder...

Same thing happened to me. I thought it was the Slave or accumulator. Took it to the dealer and it was a blown O-ring on the Slave. Covered by CPO on no big deal. Dealer service tech told me that the stiff clutch normally means bad slave/accumulator; seems to be a common issue with these cars. They have a much improved Slave/accumulator now to install vs. the older 996 now. Good luck!

Porsche just rang me, £1,100 for the job ~$1,800USD. Seems expensive? Unsure how much my warranty will cover of that.

That's pretty high for slave/accumulator replacement, although it is the stealer. Did they say what they were going to do? IIRC, it was about 4 hours labor + parts.
