That car is totally awesome, I know some people that own Ultimas. They are very fast, due to being about 2300lbs in weight, but are not exactly practical or comfortable!

As for the Ruf times that were mentioned on their site, they are quoting the times recorded by Autocar magazine on a customers RTurbo last year in the UK. That was not running well as it had a simple boost problem that was later resolved, afterall 8.5 seconds to 100mph is slower than Porsche quote for the X50 TT with 100bhp less. On that same day the RTurbo owners Ruf CTR Yellowbird was recorded as 6.7seconds to 100mph, but strangely that doesn't get mentioned on their website.........

The Ultima is indeed a badass car, but I'd be skeptical of performance claims and comparisons to other cars from their own website.

Their performance claims are 100% genuine and verified by the independent company Datron whose equipment is certified by The Guinness Book of Records who approved this new record. I know the owner of the Ultima that previously held the world record and believe me the figures are genuine, what else do you expect from a 2300lb car with 685bhp.........

As for the comparisons, they are obtained from Autocar Magazines annual 0-100mph-0 shootout published last year, tested at the same venue with the same equipment. My (minor) counterpoint stands though, that these do not necessarily represent the best figures for each of those cars - thats all.

Well, I dont think I would trade it in on a Pacer, and I am sure it would put lots of cars to shame on a track. It kinda looks like a 962 with an over filled cabin, which 962's have got to be one of the best looking race cars ever built.

I still think this car is ugly.......and "Off Topic".

Done right it's about $135 grand, including the 685 hp motor and a 6-speed getrag tranny. I'm seriously considering getting one. I may take a trip up to Illinois to see one they have at American Speed, the engine supplier. Where the hell is Moline, Ill., anyway

It's home will probably be Dallas, but it'll definitely come and visit you - and palomar mountain - this summer if all goes as planned.
