Is 01-02 engine harness the same??

Does anyone know if a 2001 TT has the exact same engine harness as 02??

To make a long story short I blew my engine on my 02 so I dropped in a complete 01 powerplant with harness and all... and now the engine starts but wont rev up over 1200rpm or hold idle,,, but I dont get any codes when I scan it.. So I want to know if the motor I put in it is crap or its just an electrical problem??
thanks

I all ways put the harness of the car on the new motor to remove the possibility of this very problem. My experience is it is by vin#. Do you know the vin of the car it came out of? If so call the dealer and see if the engine harness is the same part # for your car and the car the motor came out of. If you have the old harness out of your car trace the wires to the components. The crank pickup wires have the shielding, injectors will be bundled up same with coils. Then see if the round plugs pin out the same. Best I can do for you. I know pulling the motor back out is the last thing you want to do but you may just have to. Good luck.

How did you manage that one? All the bolts will not fit unless it is indexed the right way. How did you get around the locating pin?
