Shop in Atlanta for PPI on AircooledTurbo?
Shop in Atlanta for PPI on AircooledTurbo?
A friend of mine is looking at a 964 Turbo with some bolt on mods in the Atlanta area.
Do any of you guys know the best aircooled shop so I can point him in the right direction? Race shop? Shop that specializes in air cooled Turbos?

not sure on an air cooled specific shop but i bought a 996tt from the Atlanta area about 4 months ago and used Jim Ellis Porsche for the PPI on it -- they did a pretty good job for me, i was happy
Generally, dealers are a lousy place to take a modded air cooled turbo. They may even refuse. The cars are too old and they aren't generally interested in training new mechanics on that old stuff. The only way to get lucky is if one of the older techs is willing. I have heard way too many toss off problems with the older turbos with "They ALL do that".
Sorry, I don't know anyone in the area. You might check via PCA/POC [if member of either] if there is a trustworthy shop in the area. I know of a couple of bandits but I mustn't name names.
You might be better off trying the 993/964 area of 6speed? I see a lot more air cooled action on Rennlist if you don't get results here.
Good luck

As you can see I don't post just read the threads for information. There are two places I would check first. The first is the one I have been dealing with for years. RSmotorwerks on Roswell Rd will be the first choice to look. This is a family run business that I used for initially for my SL now they do all the work on my 04TT. John Jr is the man and will not kill you in labor cost. The second is in Marrietta but I can't remember the name. It has been there for years.
