Long run issues with eary 996TT

Hey I are looking to possibly pick up a 2k1 or 2k2 996 turbo, but since it will most likely be out of warranty what issues would i be paying for. and what should i look out for. i searched.

How often will i be at the dealer? What is a recurring problem? yada yada yada.

Eddie

No issues with my 2002, between 2001 and 2002 you should get the 2002. They added hollow spoke wheels, glovebox and a couple other things in 2002.

Porsche Pre -Owned

I bought my 01 turbo about 2 years ago with a porsche pre owned warranty.. 3 years and up to 100,000miles. Your choices might be less but the pricing will be similar. I have not have any problems but I love having the security. Does anyone have an extended warranty company in Florida that covers turbos. I will be looking for one next March.

ditto

i have a cpo through pcna and have had few problems. nothing major so far.

mine is an early 2001 and i do plan at this time to keep it past the warranty period. good luck with your choice.

btw, i think that if there were major issues with these cars they would be well reported like the rms in the na engines. this does NOT apply to turbos

The 01 and 02 differ very slighly with the exception for the X50, FWIW solid spokes were only on the real early 01s , most 01s have hollow spokes.

you asked 'what issues will I be paying for' but for some reason everyone keeps telling you about solid spokes wheels. It's not like you're going to keep the stock wheels anyway. There are no reliability issues particular to the 01, as opposed to the 02, or the 03.These things are pretty much bulletproof. Buy it, and drive the sh%t out of it. By the way, if you look into it, the extended warranties, they usually don't cover the things will actually end up breaking.

I have an 01 that I have driven very hard for over 3 years.

Besides some interior trim issues w/ the carbon fibre mine has never been to the shop.

My warrenty is up next month, this will be the first car that I will ever keep out of warrenty.

If your issues were from the sun on the carbon.. just beware that they will not replace any pieces after warrenty even though they know the problem is with the carbon pieces...

'02 w/23,000 miles. After three years, the only trip to the shop was for a PSM module replacement. She's a keeper.

Good Luck, they're not bulletproof after all...

blown engine? how did that happen? Did you contact PCNA? I would have to believe if you *****ed enough that they would step up and help you out. There's no way that motor should have only lasted 25k.

If you're in the US with a 4/50 warranty, why was the motor not covered? I personally know someone who drove his car like he stole it, blew the motor with an accidental downshift- he was at redline in fourth going for fifth and accidentally got third, and his motor was covered. I've seen Porsche cover some pretty abused cars, and your situation suprises me.
