Oil Leak Help

As some of you may know, I recently purchased an 01TT with 27,000 miles. I had the car for about a month, and today I noticed a little oil under the car, so I got under it and had a look. There was quite a bit of grime near the transfer case, which leads me to believe that it has been happening for a while (my fault for not paying more attention when I bought the car). Are the gaskets at the transfer case known for going bad on these cars? Is there anything else in this area that could be the cause of the leak? Should I be worried about driving the car? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Below are a few pics of where most the oil/grime was.

Is it just on that one side? Maybe an axle seal?

There was more grime on the drivers side and middle, but it was pretty bad everywhere. I cleaned up fairly well with some degreaser, so that may help pinpoint a spot, but it did not look like it was coming from the axle.

Got under the car again today and found some new oil. It actually looks like it is coming more from the passenger side. I put a few more pics below. All input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Danny

Have the same issue. Its a rear axle seal. Had mine replaced 10k ago and it has failed again. Passenger side. Leak flows to the bottom of the plug as in your photo.

That is what I was thinking as well, but it turned out to be the clutch slave cylinder.

Clean it up with a lot of water. The Pentosin from the slave is no good for rubber stuff and believe it or not water is the best way (also says in shop manual). Leaking slave is common on TT, so nothing especially bad with your car. The often breaking slave and accumulator is which is why MANY make a GT2 slave mod.
