Alum Gauges install?
Anybody do this mod yet? How hard is it? Does anyone know who could do it in the south Jersey area and how much it should cost. My dealer does not want to do it and I called Brandywine Porsche in Pa and they said $360. It sounds high to me because on their ebay listing they say $125 for the job if the gauges are bought there.
I also called a place in North Hollywood who would do it for $125 if I send the cluster. Is that hard to remove?
Thanks for any help.

i once looked into this option. at that time i was only able to get aftermarket dials. i was told aftermarket dials would void the warranty. i bought an instrument surround in aluminum instead.
to take out the instrument cluster sign up at renntech.com and the step by step instructions should be there.
you will need a torx set for this job.
basically there are two places where the whole cluster bolts onto. behind the little airsensor on the left side of the instrument cluster and behind the hazzard signal. the hazzard signal and the sensor piece just pop out if memory serves. the housing around the hazzard has two prongs to keep it in place.
i did the airvents at a similar time and so can't remember if the light switch needs to be removed. if so, you pull the switch out and look for the bolt or snap and it comes out easily. once the torx screws are removed, the cluster will just "pop off." i got really nervous at this point because it did take a bit of umph. once the cluster is removed there are 4 color coordinated plugs that are easily removed.
take your time and enjoy. i had a great time.
