I have the "spoiler failure light" come in so I send it to the dealer. I know not the smartest idea but it gets better (under warranty)
It's been there three weeks today. Since its been there I have had them call me to tell me there is a controller failure and the part is 1800 dollars. Then I get a call three days ago and the say its a micro switch and not the controller. This I believe because I saw the broken part. They told ne they next day ordered the part Friday and it didn't show until today. Go figure.
They then install the micro switch and when I was there yesterday I notice an oil leak coming from the trunk cover near the fan. This leak is from the motor that controls the spoiler. The tech looks at me and says "that's new" and I then agreed.
The next call was today and they said the pump(spoiler) had failed. Then I get to thinking. It worked perfect when it showed up and now it starts leaking and it no longer works. They said it had "burned up"
To start with I'm mad because they have had my car for three weeks and they have damaged more then they have fixed.
I wad told they think the rams are aftermarket and they burned my pump up. Seemed to work perfect before. Do they make aftermarket rams?
So needless to say they want 3000 dollars (billed to warranty) to fix it and no telling how long
What to do? I want to just go get it and tell them how they failed. But now the pump motor dose not work. The obvious answer to this is make them pay to fix it and I agree but we all know that will not happen
So what should I do
Sorry for the long post

I had this failure a few years back. The motor, pump, microswitches and rams all came together, assembled as one unit that IIRC was about $1300-1500. Installation should be a couple of hours. Sounds like you need to find a new shop. Three weeks for this is ridiculous.

Some dealers are tough but those parts are just so damn expensive.
If you can't catch a break do yourself a favor and upgrade to a GT2 decklid and get the GT2 spoiler harness so that light disappears forever.
Best of luck. Dealer fixes are usually a pain. Do you have a 3rd party warranty?

it's on the loooong list of "things we can expect to fail", on our cars. off topic, sorry.. but i just replaced a fuel pump today and my cars only been out of warranty a few months. first real $ hit on parts/labor i've taken, so a new to me cpo'd 997tt is starting to look better all the time. but your best bet, is to either replace the entire hydraulic kit, or go with a fixed wing setup. lots of info on that in here. good luck! that "wing failure" light... SUCKS!

It will be ironic if the aftermarket warranty doesn't cover it... It happened to me once.. it was a tranny... never again do I buy extended warranty.. and that was from the dealer too...

the warranty i have is from a company called protective. they are kinda shaky at best.
the warranty was for 24000 miles or two years and it was 3k. there was an up-charge for my 20" wheels that was 500 of it.
and hopefully they fix it...... this is driving me NUTZ
