new car today
hey guys,
I have been a member here since 05 (not a big poster, just reading what y'all have to say). My first p-car was a 04 boxter S. I had to sell it in 08 when we had two kids within 1 year. so i have been happy with my truck (f350 turbo diesel) for the last few years. i knew if i were to get another p-car, it would have to be a tt and i finally pulled the trigger. i just picked up an 03 tip from a dealer today.it is the nicest 03 that i have seen for sale around here and I have been looking for a long time. A few private party deals escaped me earlier this year because someone else beat me to them, but i kept at it. The car was a single owner car and all of the service work was done at the dealer i bought it at. They gave me every service record on the vehicle, a clean carfax and let me inspect it extensively. I drove it last saturday and made them an offer. they wanted to do the dance with me where they beg for another $500 bucks until i finally reach their price, but i held my ground and told them that i would have to go find another car and walked out of the dealership. well , lo and behold, yesterday , they called me out of the blue and told me i could have it for my original offer. Long story short, its in my driveway now and tomorrow I have to clear out all my kid's stuff out of the garage to make room for it.
I only have the pictures of it from the dealer website but here they are (if i can work this out right)

hey thanks!
the car seat was my wifes only concern about the car. I see them for sale on ebay, but i am not sure if i need extra hardware to mount them in the back seat. can you help?
thanks

How old are your kids? My girl is almost 7 now, so I have a booster. I know young kids can be put in, but require more effort/hardware!
People don't believe me (or they just laugh) -- but one of the reasons I got a 996TT was for the back seats. My previous 2-seater just wasn't getting enough time on the road due to the need to pick off or drop off one of my kids. OK -- there are other things I like about the 996TT too
.
Regarding car seats, the biggest challenge is the narrowness of the back seats. Since my youngest is 6, I only need a booster seat and I was able to find one that was narrow enough to fit perfectly into the seat. It might take a little more research and effort to get a car seat for the 3-year old that fits well (that isn't labeled "Porsche" and costs you $300+).

Thank you all for the kind comments. we ended up squishing my youngest's car seat in the back and went for a drive today as a family. the boys are calling it our 'race car'. And yes it is nicer than driving the truck, especially with the great weather we are having. Originally, I had my mind set on a cab, but i decided to go with the hard top as I liked the look more.
I really like this car.

If you're using the back seats, it's better you didn't get the cab. The rear seats are even more cramped (believe it or not) because of the room needed for the top. Nice ride!
Radian XTSL. Very narrow because they have a steel rather than plastic frames. We use in our mini-van, but should work really well in the p-car.
Honestly, with our 5-year-old, most car seats fit.
Even in our cab
