Towing with the new Diesel truck
Towing with the new Diesel truck
I live about 2 hours from the Porsche Dealer which is next to the Audi dealer so I figured I would get both services done at the same time... Hooked up the 2011 TDI and took the TT over for a 30K service. While there they had a 2010 GT3 in the shop with a hole in the engine.... I felt pretty stupid complaining about my 1K bill after I saw that....
Anyways, thought I would just toss out this pic. Audi diesel pulls great!

I really love the Diesel. I went for it since they extended the tax credit last year so no regrets so far. The dealer has been painful to work with on setting up the towing package. Although it came with towing package installed you have to connect some wires under the dash. My initial feedback from them, they informed me they had no customers that have ever asked to set up the towing. The Audi dealer seemed real proud at the truck towing the Porsche. The dealer sits next to the Porsche dealer... It averages about 26MPG towing at 70 plus MPH. Of course the trailer is aluminum so it's not really pushing the towing limit...
Went the same way for towing the toys but went with the Benz Diesel GL320 in 09 and just pick up my new 2011 GL350 will never go back to gas. I get about the same MPG on mine. Good luck with your new Diesel.
That is is nice Porsche transport.... Why can't the big 3 get on board and make a full size Diesel SUV!!!!

26 MPG? You have to be kidding me. I get 14 with my X5 4.8 . . . . .and 10 if its windy or in the hills.
You clearly forgot about the Jeep Liberty CDL!

I Knew someone would bring up that POS jeep... The computer says i avg 26MPG on this trip. The dealer is right off the exit and it's 126 miles to my house, again. Right off the exit. I set the cruise and eased it up to highway speed. To be honest, I really tried hard to see just how good I could get. I stayed at 73MPH the whole way. If you are not familiar with I40 in eastern NC, it is FLAT. Besides the trailer weighs nothing. Lite car as well. If I drive normal, meaning hammer down, I still get 22-23 MPG. The longer the trip the better the millage. The city I only get about 17-20 MPG. I really like the 600 mile range of the vehicle. My wife hates it since I demand that we don't stop for anything.....
