There were 2 on C-List that looked good. 1 in Gainsville and 1 in Herndon. (well the one in Gainsville isn't there right now).

But i am not one to talk - I flew to Birmingham,AL a month ago to buy an '01.

I think its hard to find a great deal in the DC area....

May be the trade in makes a difference?
Ahhh you must be the "other" guy who was working with Ron. They keep referring to another buyer who is about to buy it---who ordered the REV report. I stand corrected it was $44K and not $43K. My mistake. Yeah, the trade was making a difference for a warranty deal, but they wouldn't get specific. It was getting frustrating. Peter (the manager) was out this AM until noon. But I went in to look at the car at 11 AM and was not impressed. Mechanically the car might be sound, but cosmetically it's below average. I found two out-of-state cars for $5K more that are in far better shape. This car is far from pristine...the interior is very dirty (marks on the ceiling, seats), the carpet is coming loose from the consol (driver side), and there are lots of swirls and scapes on the drivers side and rear wing. I can get a much cleaner car for $49K in NJ and OH. It really comes down to whether or not the cosmetics would bother me after a few months (after the novelty wears off) knowing that for $5K more I could have a much cleaner car. Made this mistake with a ZO6 that I bought...I overlooked swirls and scratches at time of purchase only to let it eat at me months later when I was prepping the car for a car event. Then I began to see just how swirled my paint really was. You see things differently in your driveway than on a showroom lot---one tends to overlook things because you want the car so bad.

Also...did you look at the engine bay? Looks like this car has been stored outside behind a barn for 5 years. Yes, the price started at $53999 and dropped $10K in two months. The car is ok...but I would list it as "average". I'd say it was worth about $38K.

Yes, the specs on the car are quoted wrong on the dealer's page. It's not an X50 car. I also stated my price wrong (lack of sleep). Since I was trading a more expensive car (an AMG) it would have been just $44K OTD with no tax in the equation. But, for $49K there are two very clean 996TTs within 300 miles with upgraded wheels, exhaust, and 20K miles on the clock. So for $5K extra I can get a much better car. Now if they dropped this car down to say $38K I'd bite. But no way in heck $44K. I just have to go through the out-of-state title transfer. Yeah, I don't think this dealership is too keen on letting me drive it away to get a PPI.

Agreed, probably worth 39-40. So I decided to pass on the car. I was a little worried about the clutch as well. plus the Vin decoder shows touring suspension, so not interested in that as well.

I saw that on the VIN, too. I'm passing on it. I was really annoyed at my visit there today. Apparantly Ron was waiting on a call from you asured you were going to buy it. Thus I got the cold shoulder. So I left. Then they called me back at 2 PM wondering what happened. I told them to wash the damn car and clean the leaves out of it...it might have been ok when you went on Saturday...but this AM the car was absolutely filthy. The mileage increased a bit, too, I noticed. Maybe it was taken for a ride Sunday.

Check AutoTrader...like I said there are two really nice 2002/2003 996TTs with about 20K miles that can be had for about $49K. One is in Cleveland and the other is in NJ. Both have upgraded wheels and sport exhaust. Interiors are ok on them...average.

Yeah, I know. Peter called me to let me know.

I'll say this...I wish the new owner well with the car and hope they got a good deal.

I'd personally pay more for a factory sunroof delete car, but I'm crazy like that.

I have my 2004 996 TT for sale. $62,500 silver with silver leather, nav, sunroof, 9,100 miles. Interior still smells new. I am second owner. New alternator, power steering reservoir, all fluids changed. Work performed by Rodger at Orbit Racing.
He says it's one of the best kept cars he has ever seen.

I am selling because we can't make it fit with our family lifestyle. Wife loves it for date night. I needed this as my daily driving car, but I put too many miles and would ruin this particular vehicle as much as I drive.

It's just that good. PM or email for more info.
