Knee Deep in Vipertestarossa’s New Clutch Installation (Many Pictures!)

Ron is well into his new clutch installation and he asked me to post some pictures of the process for him. I will refrain from the narrative and allow him to fill you guys in and answer questions. Enjoy!!!

Nice project. I love nothhing more than wrenching the nuts and bolts on my car. Enjoy and keep us posted.

Hey Chris (Rockitman),
If you are reading this, take a look at the top picture. The red ring you see there is the rear main seal we were talking about. It is normally covered by the flywheel so if you were experiencing seepage, the oil would follow the rear of the engine down to the lowest point, behind the flywheel (which has been removed in that picture) and drip out between the engine and transmission cases.
Hope that helps with my explanation the other day.

I'll take a look when I get home. My work censors don't allow me to view such pics. So far, no additional leakage...Probably won't do anything about it until near the end of the warranty period...
Good luck on the clutch job. Can't wait to see the pics..

Yeah Im definitely not making any money on this car

On top of it Ken talked me into doing the aluminum intake plenum while the trans is out so now that's being overnighted as well

The lower cast part of the plenum is basically impossible to remove without an engine drop so as per Stephen's recomendation we cut it with a sawzall, thanks Stephen

The job would have definitely been done today if we didnt have to wait for the plenum

Oh well just another day at the office and my Amex bill going up as usual

a redyno is definitely in order after this

Ron....while you're at it...better strengthen those internals if you plan on keeping this ride for a while with that type of power/boost. Better to be safe than sorry....

Clutchess-of-Wayne (kind of like Dutchess of York),

I have to agree with Bill. I think at this point, you need to drop that engine and replace the rods, do a 30 over bore, shuffle pin the case and add port and polished GT3 heads.

Yeah baby!

You have the tranny out.... go one step further and drop that engine!

No need to double the work for later on.

Sleeves and pistons over 100 mm are very expensive. However, if you really want to get into a very, very expensive can of worms go with the GT3 heads.

Well, it beats the old story that involved a very slippery main character.
