996 GT2 PPI advice

Ok,

Got the PPI back on the car I am looking at:

Needs Front Tires, over 5 years old or low tread depth
Aftermarket exhaust, will have to find out which one
Aftermarket battery, no big deal
Paint on passenger door is a little thicker than the rest of the car

Biggest concern is over rev report:

Car hit 6750-7200 RPM 30,188 times, so shifted at or near redline
Car hit > 7250 193 times

Is this something to be concerned about?

Service advisor said this is normal for most of the Turbo Porsche's he has seen.

Said the carbon fiber trim needs to be glued down in a few spots, finish is fine, just due to heat so of the adhesive is loosening up.

Checking on other items included:

Both Keys
Owners Manuals
Tool Kit

Car has an aftermarket exhaust and a K/N cone filter intake, so could be modified, just don't know by who or what brand.

This is a Euro "ZZZ" Spec Car

A bunch of the carbon fiber is peeling away on the inside, and the steering wheel 12 'O Clock piece is cracked and would need to be replaced if that is even possible.

Other cosmetic issues, car looks like it spent a ton of time in the sun, Florida obviously, front spoiler would need to be replaced, a few scuffs, not up to my standards. A few rock chips on the hood, and one small dent on one rocker panel.

Only 1 Key and no books, nor any service history.

Anyone interested in the car I would be happy to share the full PPI, done by Rusnak in Pasedena.

The overrevs are not a great concern PROVIDED they occurred a long time ago.

The inspection will tell you the hours the last TypeII occurred, along with the number of hours on the motor. I'd want to see a good number of miles/hours since the last over-revs... like more than 20 hours ago.

Your service advisor is a moron because there is no way on a 996tt or GT2 to tell how many times someone has hit the rev limiter or beyond. The numbers you see on the DME report are the number of ignitions in each range which you can roughly translate into time spent in each range based on 6750 rpm. There are 3 ignitions per engine revolution so you can ballpark it knowing you have a little over 20000 ignitions per minute. In your case about 90 seconds in range 1 and about 0.6 seconds in range 2.

tires - are they old or low depth, which is it ?
exhaust - he is saying it has an aftermarket exhaust or that you need a new one ?
aftermarket battery - is he saying it needs a new battery or that its an a non oem porsche one ?
possible that the car has a flash (dont even know if one is available for gt2) that raised the rev limiter

John,

Could you interpret these numbers for a beginner please? Don't understand what the DME report means.
