porschetec is infamous around these parts
Softtronic vs. EPL ecu tuning?

does anyone have any definitive opinions of why they would choose
either company's ecu tuning over the other?

LOL!!!! Far from true!

Both EPL and Softronic tunes are good. I'm a good friend of Tony and have worked many of times with him. Scott @ Softronic is very good to work with to.

You cannot go wrong either way.

I just changed flashes from one company to EPL and the difference in drivability is astonishing. Have heard great things about Softronic but can tell you that Tonys tuning is awesome and couldn't believe the difference in the two flashes with the same parts.

I use EPL. Tony put in a lot of time into fine tuning my car and Dave is always there to answer logging, modding questions. When I went up to EPL it was a legit shop filled with Porsches, TT R8s and ofcourse a proper dyno.

EPL. My B5S4 was tuned by them and now my 996tt is tuned by them. Never had a single issue with either tune. The drivability and reliability (the two most important parts of an aftermarket tune IMO) are perfect. I've never had a complaint about either and my S4 was daily driven for 5 years through all sorts of different climates. The tune was OEM like, just with a lot more hp. The power speaks for itself and is really only limited by your supporting hardware and wallet. Plus Tony and Dave are great to work with.

if you really want to go with the godfather of tuning go with Protomotive and be done with it.

Another happy EPL tune here. Tony was very helpful in providing a 91 octane tune for high elevation. The car has run amazing for more than a year now with that tune. Compliments from Indy shop as well. They were very impressed.

Still can't believe someone posted that comment above with obviously no back-up or real knowledge. Got to love Tony's response!

I too heard awesome things about EPL and their work....was talking to Tony a while back about some ideas but never heard back from him after a while I also think Markski is great, both Tony and Markski seem helpful and honest and really willing to help enthusiast with personalized goals...

I don't know much about softtronic outside of seeing their ad in Porsche Panorama magazine...
