Engine hesitation or just my imagination?
Engine hesitation or just my imagination?
Rhyme not intended
Car: 2005 Turbo S Tip - all stock.
Symptoms: slight dip in the RPM (i.e. 50-100 RPM) and almost imperceptible loss of power for a split second when pressing on the accelerator, particularly when already in low RPM range (i.e. pulling out of a stop sign..). It's more perceptible if I'm actually trying to floor it because there is a 1/4 second of no reaction/no power.
Conditions: 40C outside temp, engine not fully warmed up (but warm enough).
I doubt a mechanic will notice it so before I go and make a fool out of myself, I want to check if this is a common problem.
Another issue, maybe related (?), sometimes the engine hesitates or stalls in the following scenarios:
Are these symptoms indicative of something specific?

Another issue, maybe related (?), sometimes the engine hesitates or stalls in the following scenarios:
- Engine cold, when putting gear selector from P to D sometimes RPM dips a little too much (~ 400-500) and struggles then recovers, or stalls.
- Engine not fully warmed up, at the moment the car stops at a stop sign after hard breaking (smooth breaking doesn't do it..)
Are these symptoms indicative of something specific?
Mine is a hesitation at around 2k rpm- which I'm told is normal. There's a couple of threads over at Renntech that review this.
Your hesitation seems aweful low, have you had any codes read? I'd wonder about the MAF, coilpacks, and plugs...

disconnect the harness from the MAF and see if it does the same thing
