They have 1300 degree and 2450 degree coatings. I was looking at the 2450 degree material. What is the typical cost and turn-around time?

I have the 2000 degree coating...anything over that is prone to peeling I have been told
The 2000 degree also has a wide choice of colors, mine are satin blast
Brad Gua from Performance coatings is the man!

I think it's about $150
Should the inside of the header be coated too, or could that flake off and damage the turbo?

ebaker,

That is possible if you use someone who doesn't have a successful track record with coatings. In addition to the headers, we're ceramic coating the turbo hot housings, exhaust ports, head combustion chambers, piston tops and valve tops and valve under radius section. There should be plenty of opportunity for turbo damage. I'm not concerned regarding any damage from the use hp coatings at all.

The following is a list of hp coatings credentials:

Since it’s inception in 1982, HPC has been recognized as America’s leader in advanced automotive coating technology. With repeated victories at the Daytona and Indy 500’s and flawless performance through the grueling 24 hours of LeMans and Daytona, HPC is the choice of world champions.

Racing Milestones

14 - Indy 500 winners
14 - Daytona 500 winners
4 - NASCAR Winston Cup Championships
10 - CART Championships
2 - IRL Championships
5 - 24 Hours of LeMans wins
9 - 24 Hours of Daytona wins
18 - NHRA Top Fuel Championships
5 - NHRA Top Fuel Funny Car Championships
13 - NHRA Pro Stock Championships
15 - NHRA Pro Stock Bike Championships
World's fastest wheel driven land speed record vehicle
World's fastest piston driven land speed record vehicle
World's fastest small block powered land speed record vehicle
World's fastest Unlimited Air Racer
First 4-second NHRA Top Fuel Dragster
First 300 MPH NHRA Top Fuel Funnycar
First 200 MPH NHRA Pro Stock Car
First 6-second NHRA Pro Stock Car
First 6-second NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle

This plus my experience should put put an end to the "flake" stories in regards to hp coatings.

So is it worthwhile to coat the inside of a ported stock exhaust on a daily driver?

I guess that all depends on how much power your daily driver is making in addition to what the extra power is worth to you per pony.

I am not advocating anyone to break down their motor just to coat the internals.

The cost to coat KA's intake, heads, valves, rods, cams, springs, cam housings, bearings, oil pump, headers, turbo's, case internals etc. is just under 3K. We are expecting to pick up another 40 rwhp not including the 250 hp pick up from the nitrous.

The motor will run alot cooler, will be less prone to detonation, cleaner flame burn across the combustion chambers, cooler pistons, rings, rods, springs, heads and little to no carbon build up. What's more important the coating will allow more heat to exit the exhaust which transfers into more power.

I'm not even addressing the added lubrication benefits to bearings, oil pump, valve stems, piston skirts, cams etc.

Normally a few hundred bucks and 3-4 days turnaround time...
