GT3 wheels on 996TT

Hello everyone,

I have just joined your forum and first wanted to say hello. I am a new owner of a 2003 996 turbo. Bought it this past March. I have been doing ALOT of research on this forum about putting factory GT3 wheels on this car, I just think they look better than the factory twists. I really have searched and searched but want to be clear so I get the right thing, so please dont rail on me lol . Anyway.... the car right now has on it factory GT2 wheels 18x8.5 front and 18x12 rear, I bought it that way. From what I read the offset is 50mm front and 45mm rear stock 996tt, now I have factory 996 GT2 wheels, they are 40mm front and 45mm rear. If I want to do GT3 wheels they are 18x8.5 front and 18x11 rear with offset 40mm front and 63mm rear, I will need rear spacer of 17mm to get the correct offset for the rear right? Is there any spacers that will allow you to use lug bolts that will match all around the car? I have looked on suncoast and the 17mm spacers they sell have studs and will require lug nuts not bolts and I just want them to all match. Also would 18mm rear spacers be ok to use to get the exact offset? So I guess what I am asking is what are the best spacers to get? I want it to looks as factory installed as possible. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks....

Scott

The fitment of the GT2 wheels will be much more ideal.

If you want those GT3 wheels to fit, the fronts will be fine (they should be 18x8.5 +40 like the GT2 wheels), but the rears a 17mm spacer will work, but will not look that great compared to the front. They will be sunken into the fender. You will need a 25-30mm spacer to have the rear wheels flush with the rear fenders.

Welcome aboard! Just so you know, you can get the OEM GT3 wheels in the offsets for a 996TT (no spacers needed). Mine came off of a 2004 996TT Cab when the original owner wanted something else shortly after buying the car. The dealer had it sitting in their storage for quite some time.

Good luck!

Ok so is my math wrong? 63mm GT3 rear wheel offset for narrow body cars getting a 17mm or 18mm spacer would make it 46mm or 45mm which is the correct offset for a wide body. Why would I need a 25mm-30mm spacer? Can anyone that has done this wheel change with factory GT3 wheels tell and show me what you did for your 996 widebody? Just still confused, thanks...

Your math is correct. 17mm will get you to the factory settings/look. Some folks like to have the wheels out further -- hence the larger spacers.

Looks very nice! Did you end up using spacers or finding a set of GT3 wheels in TT offsets?

Aero... I did go with spacers 18mm rear none on the front. These are factory GT3 wheels off a 2004 GT3. Was lucky to find these at the price I wanted to spend. I am SUPER happy with the end result. The offsets are perfect and they fit just about like the factory GT2 twist wheels that I had on before. Now I just have to sell the GT2 wheels lol Thanks again for the advice.

Looks great! Are the GT3 and GT2 wheels the same design, just different offsets?

No GT3 wheels are 10 spoke, GT2 wheels are just like regular turbo wheels, 5 spoke twist just a little wider.

This is a 2004 GT2.
in the 2004 and 2005 models, the wheels were similar to the GT3 design only with the correct offsets and width for the widebody car

The rear wheel is very concave

Well I was speaking of the 5 spoke GT2 twist wheels, yes I knew that there was a set for the GT2 in later years for the 996 also they were a option on the Turbo S, but they are REAL RARE!!!!!!!

My 04 C4S came with the Optional GT3 Wheels. They double as my Track & Winter Set-Up. GT3 wheels look really nice on a WB 996 when Lowered

GT3 Wheels were an Option on 2004 & 2005 C4S Coupe & Cab, Turbo Coupe & Cab, Turbo S Coupe & Cab & GT2

Correct WB GT3 Wheels for C4S, Turbo & Turbo S are 8X18 ET50 & 11X18 ET45

I Dont know what the Offset for the GT2 is but i know the Wheels are 8.5X18 and 12X18 and are Super Super Rare.
