Value of x50 package

wanted to get thoughts on value of x50 package. I know it was 17k extra or so new, and adds 35 hp. Given how much hp some of the users here have, wondered how much value I should put on this in the used market. Sorry if already asked, but couldn't find anything searching the site.

Thanks.

It is great if you do not plan on going mad with mods.

If you think you will keep the turbos and intercoolers and just plan to get it flashed, put a new exhaust on then it is totally worth it.

My friend has one, just had it flashed at techart and the flash together with the exhaust resulted in 600 crank hp. They had to reduce the boost as his clutch started to slip but even at 1.0 bar it still showed 560 crank hp.

Remember it sounds expensive to add just 35 hp like you said but you should not forget you are getting K24 turbos and a bit better coolers with this package.

my insurance company on a total loss payout ponied up ( sorry ) an additional $5k once i brought the original x50 option costs to their attention. as you would imagine i was very keen on making sure they knew of it, and my loss compensated with the option cost in mind. they bumped it $5k. nice.

the value of the larger turbo's and i/c's that the option included were to me worth much more than five grand in terms of bang for buck. imo, that's the larger point to keep in mind when shopping for a 996tt. G.L.

Do you mean you calculated it at 560 crank? What did it show at the wheels?

It depends on what you want to do with the car, some people might value it but others would put $0 value on it. Market price of about $2k-$3K seems about right though. I actually had a Porsche salesmen tell me to not pay extra at all for it.

Think of it this way, you can make up the 35hp difference and then some on a non-x50 for about $1500 by getting a flash

porsche salesmen are the very first people that will include a higher price when selling an x50 vs a k16 car. also, the platform one begins with ( k24 VS k16 ) is to me, where the value of it resides,.. eg, a flashed x50 car w/ exhaust vs a similarly modded k16, the difference could never be valued at zero. to say nothing of the "value" of full boost in an x50 vs a k16 car.

but, to each his own.

Also keep in mind that the x50 k24 turbos take a bit longer to spool up but have a stronger push at high rpm. Some people like this, others prefer faster spooling turbos

I guess I should note that it was an ex-Porsche salesmen who wasn't trying to sell me a car. I was surprised he said this too, but I take everything salesmen say with a grain of salt anyways

I agree and the flashed K16 car is much more tractable in traffic, pulling from 2K rpm whereas the K24's need 2700rpm before they get going.

That's what dyno at Techart in Germany showed.

560 crank hp at 1.0 bar

600 crank hp at 1.2 bar when clutch started ot burn at the dyno.

I am not sure about wheels figure, we are not really into those wheel-hp figures here in Europe.

again, great info. Not sure if I will mod it, but great info that $1500 could get me the extra hp. Not sure I will ever look for the extra 200 horses, but judging by the addiction of the guys on here (in a good way) I could see that in my future...hahah.
