Boost Loss found????
Boost Loss found????
Hi all,
Yesterday i noticed the car was quite down on boost, , pushing out .6 - .8 in 2nd and third, i thought it felt slower but in the back of my head thought i might be fooling myself and it might just be the Boost gauge reading.
I booked the car in for Thursday but in the meantime had a route around and found that a small pipe connected to the front Diverter Valve had a tear in it.....
Straight after i got the remap the car was boosting 1.2 consistantly, however has gradually dropped a bit to where it was boosting 1-1.1 before yesterday....so im hoping this is the problem.
Would this rip cause a loss in Boost pressure AND what exactly is this pipe???

Well, that hose is a pressure hose that pushes the diaphragm on the DV when the pressure becomes too great. Most likely, it was leaking causing lower boost and probably a higher surge when you let off because the DV would not be pushed as much.
No problem - have them boost leak check it once they replace the hose! So many things that could leak - best have them check it while they are in there!
