Install it yourself ...

Not too hard, since you are pre 2003 ...

I actually managed to get my hands on a CD: works! For sure it's not the best, but at least it's not all blank...
I'm still debating installing a 2 DIN device ($700 + $300 for install + $100 for the install kit = $1100). Not sure I want to spend that on this, which will become obsolete too in a few years...
I'll probably stick with the stock device, get a iwirep cable to get my iPhone connected with a nice support and that will be it...
BTW, I'm located in Costa Mesa, close to the Ortega Fwy...
Thanks all again.
Ciao!

I know this is an OLD thread but I'm looking for this CD too. I picked up a 2000 996 this last summer and it's missing the nav CD completely. I'd be extremely grateful if someone could help me find this.

Cheers!

The biggest improvement I made to my car's interior was ripping all that crap out. The nav stuff is USELESS as is the factory stereo. Do yourself a favor and just go get a real stereo and use your phone for navigation or buy a tomtom.

I couldn't agree more!

Problem is that I'd prefer to keep things as OEM as possible.. for now.

Looks like Dhahlen got met set up for now. I just want to make sure the Nav even works.

On a side note - what's the consensus on best looking/functioning 2DIN setup??

Personally I have double din pioneers in all my cars but one. I ended up replacing all the speakers, the amp , and the head unit in the 996. I also installed a backup camera.. No sub as I dont need it. If you have the Bose package and get it out and inspect it, you will be surprised at what a piece of junk the Bose sub is. I couldn't believe it. Total junk. One of my pioneer units stopped working in another vehicle with the video output, so I replaced it with a new entry level JVC which I like a lot too.

With a PCM1 system I utilized one of these after having no luck finding a CD for the Northeast...
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/iP-BKRCD.html

It works and they offer a few different configurations, just follow the install instructions on the site, it isn't plug and play out of the box like one would think.

I combined mine with a BT adapter and a tablet, works slick and nothing but compliments from people on the tablet install.

Write up here.
