HRE polished lips - can they be polished?

I just got a set of used HREs and I am thinking of using Mothers metal polish for the lip but before I make a mistake I thought of asking. I did a small test and the polish turned black which indicates that there is no coating of any kind. Any advise welcome. Picture to follow once I detail the car!

If they are not coated, rub away. My old school Kenesis K28 were polished but not coated and I gave them the Mothers treatment once every other month. Get some detailers cotton swab sticks to get the area under the three piece bolts. It's time consuming affair the end results are rewarding.

Thanks! This is my first set of HREs and I am simply blown away by the craftmanship! I have had other nice wheels but these look like jewels that made by hand. By the way, do you happen to know the recommended offset for 11.5 rear wheels for the 996TT. I feel the stick out a little bit but don't know if that is normal with these wheels/size or if the fit is not the exact one for my car. I already bought them so it is what it is but wondering for future purchases.

Get some metal polish, an electric drill and a mop head and get to work

I've got a set of speedlines that I'm messing with at the minute trying to find a nice finish for them

Do you know what offsets you have at the minute?

I've got 11s on the rear with an ET25 and that's probably as far as you'd want to go

hasauto is infamous around these parts
seems like same issue I am having with my HREs. I raised the car .5inch, rolled the fender and put more camber!!

I need to double check the offset but I think I read ET40 and they are 11.5 rears. Call me dumb but I have never been able to do the math on offsets despite having read the clear diagram at tirerack....

I read on amazon that the Mothers Billet polish is good so will order that one. By the way, I have a griots 3' polisher so I am hoping that will work better than the drill and mop head

offset calculation

my rudimentary math says that your wheels are 254mm minus 25mm of offset = 229mm.

Mine would be 267mm minus 40mm of offset = 227mm (or about 2mm more flushed than yours).

Please correct me if this is wrong!

Look at the stamped serial #...

R8H18P39xxxx 39 is the offset in this case (for my front wheels).

Do you know what is the offset for your rear wheels?

I saw the numbers stamped inside so figured that the last two were the offset. Just curious to see what other 996TT are running for the rears. Note mine are 11.5 for the rear. Thanks
