Stripping powder coat from wheels - pic
Stripping powder coat from wheels - pic
I bought some wheels for track use, and wanted to strip off the paint. We tried stripping with aircraft stripper, but it really doesn't work very well. I got a lot of conflicting advice, and thought that I would post a solution that worked for me.
I found a shop not too far from where I live that stripped them for me using plastic bead blasting. $40/wheel. No ugly chemicals or dipping in hot solutions. I'd recommend this.
The resulting surface is certainly good enough to paint over. I plan to buff them, though, which will keep me busy over the winter I guess.
