PSM off, Triangle traction control light flashes on hard acceleration

THe roads were cold and the car is rwd with less than perfect tires. I accelerated hard and noticed the car sputter out. I ended up turning the PSM off and trying it again, this time it seemed to go as it should but the triangle PSM light was flashing? Bad or failing MAF? I have no codes??

my understanding is the PSM will turn itself on under hard braking conditions.

Some of the track guys here pull the connection on their PSM entirely so it doesn't re-engage. Doesn't sound like the same issue.

The DSC in the BMW would do the same, it would flicker if you started losing traction, but it would not engage. Just let you know you were losing it in case you weren't aware that your car was going sideways, lol.

Then how do the RWD guys do burn outs at the track? I turned the PSM off and ripped it, THe car sputtered out??

Don't know about tracks ( so far I've kept the PSM on there... ) but on last winter I used to keep the PSM off all the time ( except on freeways going over 45 mph ), doing looooong slides on & off ramps... The triangle blinked like crazy but there was no engine cut-off.

With the PSM off if the car slides the triangle flashes, but i've never had any power cut off.

I was getting that at the track this weekend. It turned out to be the R compound tires slipping on the rims.....
