996tt convertible and talking on the phone....

OK, I know it defeats the purpose of driving a tt with the top down - but sometimes I need to talk on the phone (I have an iphone) - and there is too much noise for the small buds and holding the phone to my head and driving is not a great idea...... what do others suggest for headphones for this horrible activity?

thanks

Good luck. I've tried about every solution and haven't found one that works. Rolling up the windows does help, but not enough.

Let us know if you find something.

I use to have a cab (M Roadster) and the same problem. The fix for me was to get a sound system with Bluetooth for the phone. The directional mic was installed right under the top support for the windshield. The result was that my callers could hear me well with the mic. At the same time, I could crank up the sound system volume and hear them well through the main speakers.

Windows up, wind deflector up, slow down a little and a good Bluetooth headset. Best buy told me the plantronics savor as it has a triple filtration microphone which works better than the jawbone before the current one & Bose

Yeah, but can you drive the way you really want to with your wife in the car?

I'm not sure full over the ear headphones are legal while driving.

Jawbone all the way - if new one cant do it then only really best sistem integrated with stereo might do - no aftermarket add on like parrot would do it

You can get the Parrot system to integrate with a 996 TT Cab factory stereo/nav system. I had that on my '04 Cab for a year or two before upgrading to a new Stereo/Nav (Kenwood which actually uses Parrot for the Bluetooth integration).

Still wind noise problems at speed though (either set up).

In BC it's illegal to use a "hands" type phone. Automatic $167 fine!

I won't use the phone and drive the Porsche. It requires too much attention without phone distractions. Built in hands free on the MBZ BMW work fine if the windows and sunroof are closed.

I also have a BMW 650 Cab and when I need to use the phone through the bluetooth system in the radio/nav unit with the top down I always have to put the windows up at least. Even better with the windscreen up.
