My TT vs. STI !! i raced him
after reading everyones forum i raced him this mourning about an hour ago!! we raced from a rool on at 5 mph!! he pulled away by half a car length until i hit secong gear!! after i hit the turbo range in second gear i murdered him!! it wasnt even funny!! by the time i hit 100mph he was literarly 2-3 full car lengths back ! thanks for the info!! but i have to say they are cool cars!! later on today i might race his 360 modena spyder!!
Thanks
Thanks
stock turbo vs. stock modena is an interesting race. My buddy and I use to drag up and down the PCH in Malibu. With the long 9k rpm range in the 360 he would pull ahead of me, and then the turbo would kick in and I would pull on him, and back and forth. It's really an interesting comparison of two completely different cars. It also helped that he had the f1, his shifting time was SO short. Have fun!
You can gear any number of reasonably quick cars to hit 60 sec in low 4 seconds range . What separates the big boys is the flying 60-150 mph range ... " hasta la bye-bye baby " as Govenor Arnold would say .
Look at the early 996 vs 997S ... they are only half to three quarter seconds apart to 60, but about 15-18 secs apart to 150 - about three quarters of a mile !

Dock, I've got a video at the track (you have seen it on the cd that I let you borrow) where I ran an STi with more mods than that. That was my 12.29 sec run I do believe. He red-lighted, but I easy caught up and beat him.

Spinn,
That was exactly my experiance... As soon as I hit boost in second gear the STi was history. Good kill

The Modena is nothing more than an expensive S 2000 with a better exhaust sound but no torque. You will destroy it. Watch out for the new 430 though.

5-60 is tough for a turbo going against a nomally aspirated car. the turbo needs a (split?) second before building max boost and torque. I suggest a quick rev at full throttle to spool your turbos and popping the clutch at the start.
That should give you an edge against other turbos if they are not pre-spooling and help keep you from losing ground against NA cars coming off the start. Might be considered cheating though.
I see the spirit of the 5-60 contest being based on flooring the car from a part throttle cruise as a test of the overall response and power of the car. Either way if the other driver is not wise to you, you can still embarass them a little by minimizing the turbo lag.
