What does it take to get to 200 mph top speed in a 996 Twin Turbo?
True. GT2 gets lighter than 996tt at the front at high speeds. All 996 turbos/GT2/GT3 variants get light upfront at high speeds. Cars with bigger wings more so, due to greater inverted air push/down-force at the rear. Once you accept that this is 911 car dynamics/car trait - it is no biggie!
Everyone seems to be talking about how light the 996 platform is up front.
Is anyone doing any sort of set up for these 200 mph runs? Or is it a run what ya brung type of deal?

The suspension setups on the P-Cars I know of that have run vary from wild to mild. I don't know of anyone who ran the stock suspension with the exception of TTBoost(I think he ran the stock setup anyway). As someone who is around race cars and high speeds on a day-to-day basis I would assume you'd expect 6 speeders to consider most aspects of getting a car setup for an event like this. Regardless of whether you love or hate the straight line stuff there is more to it then adding a bunch of power the the cars and hitting the loud pedal. Most of the guys running the higher HP P-cars at the mile can afford them because they were smart enough to make money in one way or another to pay for them. Coincidentally, 99% of them have pretty well thought out cars as well. We are talking about street cars here too. With the exception of Bello's car I don't think any of the 996TT's i've seen at the mile have been "purpose built" for the mile.
As I said not true 200mph but about 194 mph due to hitting the rev limiter. Nothing but 530 bhp crank, pss10's. Gt2 height. I always check tyre pressures before the run and off I go. Did it 10 times or more. I do this on German Autobahn on the long straight and for my car it is walk in a park. You do need slightly bigger ***** if you decide to hold the speed flat out when the autobahn begins to turn :-) but I did that too! Usually BMW or mercs amg's chasing me back off there. Ha ha ha!

Nope. After a few 60-130's on the highway, I KNEW I wasn't even going to try to run over 150 with stock coilovers...I had the PSS9's installed 2 days before I left for the Mile.
I think it is just the feeling. Once you get used to light front and trust the car at top speed even on stock shocks the exercise is relatively safe although a bit scary the first time you do it.
I had many 60-130's under my belt, with the stock suspension...I couldn't keep the car in 1 lane....maybe it was just something with my stock setup? After the PSS9's, rock steady at any speed...
Quite possible. Maybe the stocks were tired? Or the road was bad? But totaly in agreement with you, once on pss9/10's - rock solid indeed.
