Price Check: '02 with X50, 70k miles

Hello,

The car is clean with 70k miles, X50 option, sports seats, no service history. Other than that, not many options. Arctic Silver with Black interior. If PPI is clean, what would be a fair price? The dealer is currently asking $39.9k.

Clean PPI and X50 I'd say dealer is asking pretty fair price.

I'd say the dealer price is fair as well, however the dealer is going to start at a price he knows will get bargained down so might as well try to hit his expected price which wont be the initial offer price. GL

Thank you.

Should I be concerned about the high mileage? Would I be better off spending $5-6k more for lower mileage example in the long term?

Was that the initial advertised price from the dealer? Not bad at all

Yes - that was the initial price offered. The weather strip near the window wipers needs to be replaced and one of the covers where a bike rack is attached needs to be fixed. Headlights have oxidized and foggy. Other than those, it looks good.

I think that the dealer price is fair, but why not try to squeeze out a bit more?

I am in a similar situation as the OP, so I am also curious about the 70k mile mark. Should it be a concern if I plan to buy a weekend driver 996tt?

The price does indeed sound pretty fair if everything checks out, since X50 and sport seats are both desirable options to most. However, I do suspect you could probably save about $1k or so if you push the point about overall mileage. Good luck to you!

So, nobody here thinks buying a 10 year old supercar with 70k miles is a bad idea? Am I insane or are these things just that good? You aren't even a little worried? I think if I bought my P-Car with 70k miles it would always be in the back of my mind if the slightest thing went wrong. But maybe it's just me.

My turbo is approaching 10 years old and there has been no major problems and been a blast to drive. If left stock, they are very reliable except some of the known issues you will find in the forum.

Having said that, any 10 year old car will develop problems and these are more expensive to fix and maintain. So you are not insane to have some concerns, whether it is worth it is rather subjective.
