What's a good time at Laguna Seca with our cars?

My best time ever in my 996 GT2 was a high 1:36 in traffic (on hoosier R6's and with my JRZ's). Generally, I was content to tool around in the 1:37 - 1:38 bracket.

Here's the first time I took it to Laguna Seca. Cold day, not a lot of grip, but great fun anyway!

My fastest so far is 1:44.9 last time Vid997 and I were there in April. We are heading back this weekend with new mods so will see how we do. I have Euro GT3 seats, rollbar, 6pt harnesses, and Speedtech 3.0 with cats. I will have an issue with sound so need to play some games and try the 2.5" tips.

80-shilling, you doing well enough in you business venture to get back into a P-Car yet? Incredible times!!

Very good time. I ran 1-38's in my 993 with big Toyo's, full suspension, 550hp, about 2900lbs. The 996TT ran 1-43-44's with 600hp, MPSC's, 3200lbs and a full suspension.

I'd say you were movin along great. What a fun track! Takes half the day to learn in a heavy car. 997TT's def are a bit faster.

So far, not enough cash to get back into Cars at the moment (I always pay cash, NEVER finance cars), other than buying a 2011 BMW X5 diesel.... Just got married, bought a house and invested a cr@pload of money in a Real Estate venture, so the Toy budget is looking quite slim at present.

Doing a lot more Motorcycle trackdays at the moment, though, which is fun.

Cheers.

Graham, hope to see you soon in another toy. Mike is on the hunt for a 997T. I'm thinking of getting a Panamera. I really like them.

I overlay-ed your best lap in that video to this lap i have on youtube. I learned some info from over laying it. On topic, yes 1:36s is possible with a 996T, i have done it.

Here is the video i over layed yours with.

I'd be interested in any time estimates (or real) for a stock 996TT. I don't think there would be any issue with the cork screw for a lowered car.

First time at Laguna seca, first time tracking my 996T, with a passanger
1:46, 100% stock, down to the crappy Bridgestone tires.

Thanks! That's actually a great data point. That tells me one could buy 10 seconds with more practice on the track, some mods, better tires, ejecting the passenger, and the right tunes on the radio .
