More like the simple fact that your original statement was ludicris and I called you out on it is the real reason. I love all cars and try not to be blinded by the "fanboy" mentality. The ZR1 is a great performer but with low end interior parts and a plastic body. It also has an image problem in that if they ever want to appeal to the Ferrari/Lambo supercar buyer GM needs to do something to make it stand out. It will take more than a cheesy plastic engine cover. The average joe who knows nothing about cars should be able to look at it and say "Wow, I haven't seen one of those before". Unlike the current vette that has become common and whose base model looks so similar to the top end one that people pay it no notice.

...What I'm afraid of is - what on earth is the R36 going to be like?[/QUOTE]

I have all the respect in the world for the Nissan GT-R. At 4,000lbs, it defies physics. Unfortunetly, I do not like the exterior design...and therefore, cannot bring myself to buy one. If nissan takes a different design approach for the next generation GT-R (and I like it), I'll be waiting in line to buy one.

As another fan of all performance cars, I'll give you the fact that the corvette needs a better interior. However, we can't mention that all corvettes (base and top end model) look the same without mentioning that the same can be said, with greater validity, about every porsche 911 ever made...just saying. Btw, huge Porsche fan here.

Right because first quarter sales mean everything. And the economic climate hasn't changed at all.

I drove a GTR prior to buying my 996tt. I could have 2 yo GTR with low miles for not much more than what I paid for my car.

As hard as I tried to love the car, I couldn't get over three things:
1- It is a big car. I prefer smaller cars, my three previous cars were turbo'ed Miata, Caterham and Elise. So compared with those, the GTR looks and feels HUGE.

2- It is not beautiful to my eye. I can't warm up to it. I kinda like the rear a bit, but everything else and especially the front I don't like.

3- Paddle shift=no. It's quicker shifting, has launch control you can let it in auto mode and lend it to your mother in law and she wouldn't complain. But to me, fun sports car = manual gearbox.

They are fast though and any 996TT/997TT owner has to be VERY careful if he wants to hang a GTR to its "kill board"...
Fortunately for me, I don't care much for kills and really don't care about Ring times.

Apparently the econmic climate doesn't appy to Corvette sales

http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2012/...orvette-sales/

Explain why again Ferrari sales are up and Corvette are down during the same time period? After all, it was you who said the ZR1 would take sales from Ferrari. Are you finally able to take off the rose colored glasses and admit that the Ferrari buyer is just not interested in a Corvette? Fact is the ZR1 has had ZERO impact other than on the sales of the Z06.
