Help...anyone with a Reus stereo
DJ and Robert
Which system did you have in the cab?
I was thinking of going with the 1 sub system. With the cab do I need the second sub?
In other words I have to decide which is more important the sub and use the existing becker head unit, or the eclipse with 1 sub?

DJ,
Did you replace the head unit? Rick says it is not necessary. The eclipse unit is suppose to sound better but sure doesn't look so great. The din nav unit would look better, but the sound is not as good as the regular head unit, and I really don't need the nav. I like it though....and I could watch movies.
I would still like to hear it and I know there are people around here that have done theirs, but I guess not on this board. I am gonna have to drive 100 min each way to listen to a Reus sound system.

As far as I know...
You can't get a 2 sub system in a cab. Unless you are talking about the 1 sub system + midbass driver. You really should get the midbass driver. Like I said, it's night and day difference. I had my system for about a year before finally getting hooked up with the midbass driver and once I got it the system was perfect. The Reus system has it all...
- Accurate imaging and soundstage
- Loud as hell - you can turn it up as loud as you want without distorting. I really mean LOUD! In my cab, people said that they could hear me coming down the street. 100mph with the top down and the music is as clear as can be.
- The system is totally invisible. You would never be able to tell that anything was done to the car.
- Support - they really stand behind their stuff. I had a sub surround go bad and they sent a guy out to me and replaced the sub in the parking lot of my office at no charge.
- Support support support - They came out again just to add an XM module and antenna to my Alpine head unit.
- Support support support support - I went to Reus to get my midbass driver installed and Rick took me out to a great Cuban place nearby. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL CUSTOMER SUPPORT!
It's one of those things. I was once in your shoes. It's a lot of money to spend for something without hearing it or seeing it. BUT you have to hear it to believe it. You also have to remember. They have probably done a few hundred systems so you know they will take care of your car and do it right as opposed to the stereo guy in your neighborhood that has done 2 or 3 Porsches.
I have seen some killer stereo systems in Porsches, I have some serious aftermarket stereo systems in two of my other cars and several of my previous cars. Sure you can do a serious sealed enclosure with fiberglass work and lots of power in a 996 coupe but you can't do it in a cab unless you take out the back seats. Also, by the time you add a serious MDF enclosure with a good quality 10" sub or something really awesome like the JL W7 sub, you also add weight and weight is not exactly something you want in a Porsche.
Anyways, to make a long story short. I've been in your shoes. Just do it! You will never regret it. Just make sure you get the midbass driver. The Eclipse looks funky but it really is a nice sounding headunit. Rick says that the stock headunit is ok but that's just because the Reus system can make anything sound good. If you did not do a Reus system and just changed out the stock head unit, you would see a tremendous difference in sound quality.

I've got full Reus System.
- Pioneer Nav
- Eclipse Head
- Rear view mirror tweets
- AND 4 SUBS
If you PM me your email address I will send you some pics that I took when they installed the subs.
It took two guys to carry the sub and they had to remove the passenger seat to get the sub in the back.
I've got 3 amps, but I'm supposed to get a 4th one when I get around to it.
Rick, Joe, Scott and the gang are great guys.

Robert,
So do I get the eclipse head unit and get the non stock kinda ricer look? Or do I stay with the stock becker?
Mel

FYI, they have done TENS OF THOUSANDS of systems, not hundreds! Rick has been around since the 70's.
OK,
I am gonna do the full system, but no nav. I am gonna go with the eclipse head unit.
May be in next week.
Chumpulump,
You need to call Rick now, if you are serious about the system. Hint hint.
