Cool Please help with new potential purchase!!

Hi guys,

I found this vehicle on craiglist today. One of the member in the forum was supposed to pick up this car but he/she found another white one with a newer year and decided not to buy this one instead. So, the owner is re-listed today.

2001 911 turbo white/tan with 46K miles.
New brakes at 41K miles
45K miles service was completed a few months ago.
Prestine condition, clean title.
Seller is asking for $41K ($43,500 was the posted price)

What do you guys think about the price? Is it reasonable? This will be my first turbo so I'm not sure what's the "reasonable" price is. Any opinions/inputs are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I can't tell from the pic whether it's the standard beige or the special order "natural brown" (which would have a bit more value). Plus or minus on the wood trim -- most people are against it, so it might make for a bargaining chip (despite the added cost of the wood trim options). "New brakes"? - just pads, or also rotors?

Just my opinion, but I would say no more than high $30's, if there are no major issues on PPI. Good luck with your search/purchase.

The exterior color makes it quite valuable (relative to other colors) but the interior kind of shoots it right in the foot (IMHO), particularly the wood. The price seems pretty reasonable, but if it were me I'd be shooting for upper $30k range and of course to ensure it passes a PPI with no major issues. Best wishes!

Cool

I believe both pads and rotors were replaced. I'm not a big fan of the wood trim and tan/beige interior also. I'm not sure what to offer this gentleman. Like you, I was thinking around $37-$39 but he said nothing lower than maybe $40K.

If not, I'll just wait for another one..... :-)

Thanks Alpha!

Mike - There seem to be so many out there. It should have already made an impression on the seller that his original buyer found another one that he liked better. That should help with your negotiation.

I believe that newer is probably better, but this one looks like a late '01 (no front bumper warts), so might/should have the hollow spoke wheels (can tell by feeling the back of the spokes - smooth for hollow spoke). If you can't find a comfortable price on this one, there are sure to be more on the market. Good luck, and have fun!

Paid $43K for my bone stock 2002 slate gray which is an upgraded paint from factory with 28,000 miles nearly 2 years ago. It's been nothing but trouble free and I did have PPI done at my expense. I never even saw the car other than pics. Hard to believe anything deserves the word pristine with that many miles but you never know. Not a fan of the tan myself but I think white on tan is the only exception for me. I think you could be under $40,000. I would wait and pay $40ish for a lot less miles honestly.

Have you already driven it or gone to see it? Is this in the Phoenix area? If so, I'd be happy to go look at it with you and give you my thoughts (I've driven so many turbos, and as an owner, I might be able to give you some insights). I too like the color...alot!

Cool How much for this 2001

I think it's around 45K for sure.. Nice color very much in demand, mileage is correct for a car of that age..Looks stock (which is another major plus for lots of buyers) so nobody has been messing with aftermarket stuff and having blown up bits and pieces.

i think high 30's would be fair, white is rare though, i probably would have a paid a couple of grand premium to get a white car, not sure i could live with ther interior though

something with milesage under 35k would be my goal

Miles are ok, if car is as good as it looks and last owner has maintenance records then with that color combo and options I believe it's worth it. Very nice car.
