What Size Trolley Jack?

I currently have a 2 ton trolley jack

Minimum height is 130mm
Maximum height is 345mm

My axle stands have a 6 ton rating and a ratchet action
Their minimum height is 400mm
Maximum height is 615mm

The trolley jack I have at present doesn't go low enough to fit under the car, and doesn't lift high enough to allow me to get my axle stands underneath it either

I've got the scissor jack that came with the car, so I could use that to raise the car slightly and then get my trolley jack under one of the other jacking points if needed

What would be the best way to get my car up onto the axle stands?
Can I use the jack(s) I already have, or should I buy a new one?

Currently reading about Arcan Jacks
Anybody got any experience of them?

Not heard of them myself, but I'm guessing they're American?

For the money Harbor Freight has a standard size jack with a very low profile (2 3/4"). It's the only jack I can get under my car which is lowered just above GT2 ride height. I even have room to slip my jack pad guide plates between the jack saddle and the jacking points. I have some trolley jacks but they are more trouble to use and as you've pointed out you don't get much lift.

I have 2 lengths of 2 x 12 I've tapered on one end that I drive on. This gives me enough clearance on my lowered Turbo to jack & place stands under it.

Low rise jack is the only way to go. Makes life much easier and my car is lowered.
That YouTube stands we're pretty neat. Must use a toothed system like most jack stands as he didn't remove a pin until it was coming down.
Need to make the rear trays wider to accommodate our larger rear tires.
