How are they fitted?
Do they cover or replace the stock roof?

If they replace it, how is the stock roof removed?
I assume it's just drilling out spot welds?

I've researched this for a while and there are a few options out there. The aforementioned GMG Racing piece seems to be the highest quality and the most photographed/documented of the bunch, but there are also some options from Getty Designs if you're interested in alternatives.

From what I understand, the factory steel roof costs about $350 for reference, but the factory non-sunroof headliner is a huge expense. I'm not sure of the exact cost but I seem to remember it costing well over $1000 new. So, be sure to budget accordingly for a carbon roof conversion if you want OEM look and finish since you're going to be likely spending a LOT more than just the cost of the roof. Best wishes!

Will the finish be the a nice cf weave or paint ready? the GMG one is a nice weave.

Blockhed,

Could you please be more specific about where to find those for the prices you mentioned. I'll start assembling prices if I can find one at that price range (for my future carbon roof conversion). Thanks a lot in advance as that is big news to me.

*EDIT* I searched the big auction site and did find a used 996 no-sunroof headliner for $499 + $60 shipping. Are there any other places to routinely search for these? As expected, the headliners for sunroof equipped models were much more common.

ebay, 6speed, rennlist, many guys pick up gt3s and strip them so a WTB post would help. Yes they are 1000+ new but no one buys them used so owners try to sell them for 2-400.
