Tapping transmission case for GT2 slave conversion
Ed,
How much did you end up adding to the length?

I added 1/8" to the stock GT2 length because of our assumptions with the case not being machined like the GT2 is. I'm guessing the stock rod would be just right. I want to have a rod ready so i can swap it out fast.
John,
After reading how people add or remove from these rods, i'm going to guess that each clutch will be different. I suggest everyone start with the stock rod and then adjust after driving it for a day or two to let the clutch disc settle with the PP.

You know, we used a Euro 993 GT2 part that someone mentioned to me has a slightly shorter rod than the newer GT2 slave that you used - I was told about 1/4" shorter. If this is true, I'll bet with the newer slave my action would not be as close to the floor and probably perfect without extending it. And I think you are probably correct about driving it first, then adjust only if required.

Positive update!!..... I pulled the slave out (takes 5 minutes now) and shortened the shaft and WOW soo much better.
Here's the deal, all the people that have the high engagement point like i had need to do this because it reduces the pedal effort for some reason. It was a little stiff with the high engagement point but now it's in the sweet spot and is not bad at all.
I was way up on the pedal, about the first 8-10%; i'm down to about 65-75% now. I cut out about 1/4" of the shaft. Now it's about 1/8" shorter than the stock GT2 rod.
John, 1/4" should be the sweet spot for you from what you've told me your car engages at.

Its not hard, Make a sleeve to slide it in and then weld the shaft ends to the sleeve. Its a real PITA to get the stock slave out. If you are going to go that far just do the gt2 slave. It will only be another 2-3 hours work. with the flush and bleed.
Also, if you can find a tube to fit the rod you can use a piece of angle iron and lay the two pieces of rod in the valley. Use clamps to hold it down and then spot weld one side, turn and then finish welding all around. That's how i did mine.
Anyone know the stock GT2 slave rod length and the stock turbo slave rod length?
I'm currently using stock turbo rod in my GT2 slave setup and with my Spec clutch the engagement point is pretty high. If I can, I'd like to bring the engagement point down a little bit but I'm not sure how much material to remove from the stock rod. TIA!

Oh she's running! I'm going to Daytona next weekend for the race with family but maybe the weekend after that? I have that Friday off.
